Carolina Sky Holiday Lights

Christmas light takedown and storage

Every display we install comes down in January, gets boxed and labeled, and goes into our warehouse until next season. It's not an add-on — it's half the reason hiring this out makes sense. The lights never touch your attic, your garage, or a tangled bin in the crawlspace.

This page covers how takedown and storage actually work, including the question everyone asks: whose lights are they?

What's included

  • January takedown on a schedule we set with you in advance
  • Careful removal — clips come off the way they went on, nothing yanked through branches
  • Each run boxed and labeled by location on your house
  • Warehouse storage between seasons — nothing in your attic or garage
  • Bulb and clip inspection at takedown; failures replaced under the 3-year warranty
  • One-text rebooking next fall — your display goes back up from the labels, no re-design
  • Included in every install quote rather than billed separately

How it works

01

Schedule in January

At install time we agree on a takedown window. When January comes we confirm a day, and the display comes down on schedule — you're not chasing us in February.

02

Careful removal

Clips release the way they attached, strands come off trees without dragging through limbs, and cords are pulled cleanly. January removal done wrong is how gutters and shingles get damaged — the crew that works Triangle roofs all year does it right.

03

Box and label

Every run goes into storage labeled by where it lived — "front gutter," "west gable," "oak by the driveway." At the warehouse, bulbs and clips are checked and anything worn is replaced under warranty.

04

One-text rebook

Next fall you text us. The labeled display goes back up on the same house with no new design visit and no re-measuring, and rebooking clients get first pick of install dates.

What it costs, and whose lights they are

Takedown and storage are built into every install quote — there's no separate line item and no January invoice. It's priced in because it's the only way the model works: the same crew that installed the display removes it, and the lights come back to us.

On ownership, plainly: the lights are ours. You are leasing the display for the season — design, materials, installation, maintenance, takedown and storage in one price. That's what lets us warranty the bulbs and clips for three years, replace failures at no cost, and guarantee that what goes back up next year is in perfect shape. If you'd rather own lights outright, we're probably not the right fit — we don't install customer-owned lights, precisely because we can't stand behind equipment we didn't supply.

Christmas light takedown and storage — questions people ask.

When exactly do you take the lights down?
Through January, on a window we agree on at install time and confirm by text after New Year's. If you want the display up through a specific date — a late family visit, an event — tell us at booking and we'll schedule around it. Displays are never still hanging in March; January means January.
Do I own the lights or do you?
We do. The seasonal price covers the design, the commercial-grade materials, installation, maintenance, takedown and warehouse storage — you're leasing a complete display, not buying hardware. In return you never store a bin, never untangle a strand, and any bulb or clip that fails is replaced free under the 3-year warranty. Next season the same labeled display goes back up on your house.
What does rebooking next year involve?
A text. Because every run is boxed and labeled by location, next fall's reinstall skips the design visit and measuring entirely — we confirm dates, you get priority scheduling as a returning client, and the same display goes back up. If you want to add a tree or change the roofline, we fold that into the rebook.
